Affirming Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Act Affirmed (MOHLTC, June 2015)

The Government of Ontario has affirmed Bill 77 the Affirming Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Act, which amends portions of the Health Insurance Act and Regulated Health Professions Act to prevent funding of “conversion” therapies and to prohibit such therapies for those under the age of 18.

This affirmation does not prohibit treatments “that provide acceptance, support or understanding of a person or the facilitation of a person’s coping, social support or identity exploration or development”.
